This function improves the customer experience by reducing the number of screens/lists a user has to go through to add an item to their order.
For example, a pizza has a set of toppings that the customer can add to or remove from. Without the modifier default select function, the menu must provide a list of toppings that can be added and a list of the items that could be removed. With this function, the customer has to only go through one list of toppings with the default toppings already selected.
The menu manager can select ‘Default Selected’ for modifier items. This function allows customers to select or deselect the modifier items on your online store.
This function is useful to define menu items such as pizza, sandwiches, and burgers that have many choices of toppings. The function may be used with a counter if the customer may select the modifier item more than once.
Notes:
Use 'Default Selected' for modifiers that are not forced and with zero maximum limit.
‘Default Selected’ may be used in conjunction with the ‘Use Counter Settings’ on modifiers that are not forced and with zero maximum limit. Select ‘Use Counter Settings’ only if it applies to the modifier (if customers can select the same item more than one time with no charge).
Place toppings that come with the item first, then have any add-on items following. This is so customers can see at once what toppings are included and can decide to leave the items or remove any items.
To use this function;
Log in to your Moduurn Back Office (MBO) www.admin.moduurn.com as an admin user.
STEP 1: Click on Menus and then on the Edit button on the menu you would like to edit.
STEP 2: Click on a Category and then on the Edit button on the item you would like to edit.
STEP 3: Create a new modifier or edit an existing modifier.
Click on Add to create a new modifier.
Click on Edit on an existing modifier.
STEP 4: Enable Use Counter Setting if you are allowing the customer to select the same item multiple times.
Note: If the customer can only select the item one time then do not select Use Counter Settings.
STEP 5: Click on the Minimum field and type 0. Click on the Maximum field and type 0. You must have the number zero in both fields. If you are creating a new modifier fill in the Action Caption field, then the Modifier Name field, leave Is this a Forced Modifier? deselected, and select any Portions if the modifier is to be assigned to certain portions (if the modifier is for all portions then you do not need to select any portions, as it will automatically be assigned to all portions).
STEP 6: Click on Edit for the modifier item you would like to use the Default Selected for.
Or if adding a new modifier item, click on Add.
STEP 7: Select the Type (if making a new modifier item), edit the Name, Cost Difference, Maximum Limit (if using counter settings), and type in the External ID (if using a POS system). Once you have edited (if necessary) or added a modifier item, click on Default Selected.
If using the counter setting type in the Maximum Limit, then click on Default Selected.
STEP 8: Click on Save.
STEP 9: Scroll to the bottom of the pop-up window and click on Save.
Notes:
When adding this function into an existing modifier, this does not affect reordering.
If there is a maximum number entered, then only that amount of items can have Default Selected. This will affect any item with more toppings than the maximum limit number that is set. Eg. if the maximum amount of toppings is 3 but there are 5 default toppings, then only 3 toppings can be selected with Default Selected. Therefore, you may not use Default Selected with a maximum limit.
